Description

the petioles or leaf sheathes of the plant which are a beautiful mix of red and white

The plant stays small (less than 1' across) and has a triangular shape

This cultivar is like the normal Sea Urchin cactus but the ribs appear to fold under each other giving a unique shape

most prominent ribs in the genus

The leaves look like red egg shaped rocks with a rough surface (they turn green in low light)

Pachypodium bispinosum Crassulaceae the petioles or leaf sheathesPachypodium bispinosum A nice shrubby caudiciform species of Pachypodium. Said to be the most floriferous species. Very similar to P. succulentum but differs in the flowers and it seems to make more small branches (which is nicer in my opinion). Not difficult to grow. Experiences light frost in its native South Africa, but any hard frost can kill it. Likes water during the growing season as long as it is in well drained soil. Should be kept fairly dry
