The caudex is fat with peeling white to brownish skin or bark. A mature caudex can reach 2' tall by 1' wide as a pot grown plant. In warm, dry climates like California this can even be a landscape plant eventually reaching upwards of 5' tall and 2 3' wide at the base! Easy to grow. Likes a fair amount of water during the summer (try not to let the pot dry
